James Madison's Montpelier celebrated permanently protecting more than 1,900 acres of historical lands at a conservation celebration--capped off with a fireworks display--Saturday, Sept. 21. The free, fun, family-friendly event began with a twilight trail hike in the Landmark Forest and included a buffet from the Barbeque Exchange, wine from Barboursville Vineyards and Virginia craft beers. Participants enjoyed picnics on the lawn, music from musician and storyteller Calvin Earl, an open view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the fireworks show from Montpelier's front lawn.
