Locust Grove man charged with sex crimes

A Locust Grove man has been arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and charged with committing sex crimes.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, Kevin Lee Goodman, 64, of the Spotswood Road area of Lake of the Woods has been charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child under the age of 15, a Class 4 felony. He also has been charged with three counts of crimes against nature on a child at least 13 but under the age of 18 when the offense occurred, a Class 3 felony.

The charges come in the wake of a report of a sexual assault that the sheriff’s office received on the evening of Friday, April 26. Lt. Becky Jones conducted the investigation in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services.

According to Major Michael R. LaCasse, Goodman was arrested in the early morning hours of April 27. He is being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
