An Orange man released on bond in late April has been charged with attempted murder, rape and several other charges, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Cruz Humberto Gallegos Grajeda, 52, is now being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
According to Major Michael LaCasse, chief deputy of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a woman came to the Orange County courthouse on May 13 seeking help because a protective order had been violated. She also reported being the victim of a number of crimes on May 9 and identified her assailant as Gallegos Grajeda.
Gallegos Grajeda was charged with assault and battery and abduction on April 23 and released on bond on April 30.
As a result of the May 13 investigation, he was arrested and charged with attempted murder, rape, burglary with intent to commit a felony, abduction and violating a protective order.
