The Albemarle High School rowing team continued its successful season on May 4 at the Mathews East River Regatta.

AHS claimed first place in nine events, including  the women’s senior double (Bri Knight and Ryleigh Katstra), the men’s junior double (Charlie Butler and Zack Arzouni), the women’s junior double (Mia Liang and Rebecca Hasson), the women’s lightweight double (Olivia Hall and Dhara Liyanage), the women’s senior quad (Mia Liang, Charlotte Kaczka, Sydney Foster and Rebecca Hasson), the women’s junior quad (Olivia Hall, Bri Knight, Dhara Liyanage and Ryleigh Katstra), the men’s junior quad (Joe Angevine, Charlie Butler, Zack Arzouni and Zach Hall), the women’s senior single (Bri Knight) and the men’s junior single (Andrew Edwards) races.

The men’s lightweight double (Joe Angevine and Zach Hall) and the women’s novice quad  (Sydney Foster, Natalie Shropshire, Merritt Scherer, Eliza Thorndike) took second place and the men’s senior single (Aidan Johnson) placed third. 

The team will be heading to Occoquan for States on May 11.
