PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Makenna Santinga, Madison County, Senior

Santinga capped off a sensational high school volleyball career by leading Madison County to a magical run to the state playoffs. The senior setter led the team in assists and service points and was named Bull Run District and Class 2 Region B Player of the Year. She also was an all-state performer.


COACH OF THE YEAR

Carrie Hardy, Madison County

Hardy guided the Mountaineers to their best season in program history this fall. Madison County posted a record of 25-2 and won the Bull Run District and Class 2 Region B championship to secure the first state tournament semifinal berth in school history.


FIRST TEAM

Makenna Santinga, Madison County

Santinga was a model of consistency for the Mountaineers this season. The senior setter led the team with 870 assists and 347 digs. She also tallied 105 kills and 76 aces.

Esther Amos, Albemarle

The senior middle blocker posted 210 kills and 55½ blocks this season for a Patriots team that reached the Class 5 Region C semifinals. Amos was a first team all-district selection and second team all-region performer.

Allie Cognata, Monticello

The Jefferson District Player of the Year led Monticello’s volleyball team to another trip to the Class 3 Region C tournament. The senior outside hitter led the team in kills and displayed a strong all-around game.

Christina Walker, Fluvanna County

Walker registered team highs in kills (301), blocks (32) and aces (92) to lead Fluvanna County’s volleyball team to another strong season. She was a first team all-district and all-region performer. Walker will play collegiately at George Mason.

Adalee Lynch, Albemarle

Lynch blossomed into one of the top outside hitters in the area this fall. The outside hitter led the team with 245 kills and posted 32 blocks and 30 aces as she garnered first team all-district and second-team all-region honors.

Abby Johnson, Western Albemarle

Johnson was a second team all-district performer for Western Albemarle this fall. The senior ranked among the team leaders in kills and blocks and was a go-to performer offensively for the Warriors.

Allie Burbridge, Madison County

Burbridge was Madison County’s primary offensive weapon, leading the team with 238 kills and 35 blocks. The senior also tallied 64 digs and 38 aces as she earned first team all-district and all-region honors for the Mountaineers.

Bridget Pinnata, Albemarle

Pinnata was a defensive stalwart for the Patriots this season. The libero registered a team-high 312 digs, eclipsing her own single-season mark. She also posted 116 service points and 34 aces for Albemarle.
