Heavyweight Jake Jackson became Western Albemarle's first individual state champion this season. 

Jake Jackson, Sr., Heavyweight, Western Albemarle

Jackson went 34-7 and became the first individual state champion in Western Albemarle program history. He’s fourth all-time at WAHS with 122 wins.

 

Chance Bowers, Jr., 145 pounds, Orange County

Bowers finished third at the Class 5 state meet and the Region 5D meet. He won a Jefferson District title.

 

Mason Morris, Jr., 126 pounds, Louisa County

Morris finished third at the Class 4 state meet and won a Jefferson District title.

 

Brock Shorten, Sr., 170 pounds, Albemarle

Shorten recorded the 100th win of his career in the Jefferson District finals. He finished third at the Class 5, Region D meet.

 

Riley Rudnick, Sr., 160 pounds, Orange County

Rudnick finished third at the Class 5, Region D meet and took sixth at the state meet. He won a Jefferson District title.

 

Davis Smith, Jr., 170 pounds, Woodberry Forest

Smith finished his junior season 27-8 and finished second at the VISAA state meet. He also took first place at the Fork Union and Paul VI invitationals.

 

Isaac Kenner, Sr., 152 pounds, Charlottesville

Kenner didn’t begin wrestling until his junior season. He finished 34-6 this season and finished third at the Class 4, Region D meet.

 

Christian Corbin, So., 220 pounds, Madison County

One of the youngest members of the Mountaineers’ lineup, Corbin finished the season 41-12.

 

Collin Castrina, Sr., 113 pounds, Western Albemarle

In his first season since transferring from Covenant, Catsrina finished 28-12 and took second at the Jefferson District meet, but his season derailed by an injury suffered in the regional meet.

 

Jackson Perry, Jr., 113 pounds, Monticello

Perry lost just two matches during the regular season and went undefeated against district competition. He finished third at the regional meet and went 2-2 at the state tournament.
